The Anime that Wasn't There

Year: approximately 1990

Location: MECCA

Story: The anime program was showing episodes of Ranma 1/2, a wild and crazy martial arts anime series. They started showing the Black Rose story arc, which pitted Ranma against the gymnastic martial artist Black Rose. They showed the first episode, which had the challenge from the Black Rose to Ramna, and then said they should stop there. The audience all shouted that they wanted to see more. They showed the second episode, which set up the competition, all the way up to the starting bell. More, we shouted, more!

That's when they told us that they didn't have any more. The next episode was not out yet in the States.

Much anger and grumbling, but we accepted it.

Fortunately, the next year I was walking by the anime area just as they starting running Ramna again. This year they DID have the final episode of the story arc. Much rejoicing.
